Black Market Liquor Bar is a laidback, tavern-like, local neighborhood spot in Studio City that despite its low profile, serves some delicious drinks. Grab your friends and head to this party spot to relax, kick back, and not take yourself too seriously while indulging in some of the best tiki drinks in LA. The bar has a literal wall of mezcal bottles originating from all over Mexico, from Oaxaca to Durango, giving you a whole lot of variety to choose from when it comes to the oldest liquor ever distilled in North America. Know that on Sundays, the restaurant adds a 20% gratuity to everything you order as a thank you to their staff.
And now that the bar has absorbed its sister bar, there is more space to be had. It was well worth the wait with cocktails that tasted like fennel and tomato salads, and cinnamon buns with a side of coffee. The same team that previously ran the award-winning Barcelona bar, Two Schmucks, made it stateside a few years back with the dream of doing it all again, the azor but in NYC. Sunken Harbor Club’s new forever space has dramatic, enchanted shipwreck themes and studied drink menus as deep as the sea, thanks to chief cocktail officer Garret Richard on deck. The permanent addition picks up where Frizell’s weekly parties of the same name left off at Fort Defiance when the Red Hook favorite relocated. Margaritas are blackened thanks to a blend of huitlacoche and mole, and mezcal meets mole in the Mole Negroni.
With its entrance hidden behind a bookcase and dim lighting throughout, Bandista is a safe spot to lie low while enjoying the high life. The bar, housed in a 100-year-old building, is home to an expansive beer menu and one of the largest patios in Houston, making it one of our absolute favorite spots in the neighborhood. Order a simple Point of Origin (blanco tequila, smoked sage agave, and lime with a “stardust” rim) and some bites courtesy of the Bludorn team. Start in Mexico with the vibrant Graaape~ ($26), which marries kyoho grape with tequila and lime, before jetting off to Spain for Heads Down, Horns Forward ($26), where gin and mezcal meet gazpacho and wasabi. Dirty Supper has gained quite a rep in the Tiong Bahru neighbourhood for its unique design and cooking philosophy – it shares a space with a bak chor mee stall in the day and focuses exclusively on seasonal produce. And if you have time to spare, visit East47, Manhattan’s Warhol-inspired bar-in-a-bar and peep into its in-house rickhouse stocked with over 100 American oak barrels from Minnesota.

In the former Fiction Coffee space, Sanchez and Payne (along with Brian Rutt and Pasha Heidari) have brought the iconic bar back to life. You can choose from a Pisco Sour from Peru, a Dutch Martini from New York, a U.K.-inspired espresso martini, or an entire menu of Atlas Originals. Krio’s Dan Bui opened this globally-inspired bar in Bishop Arts in 2021. All day on Mondays (or anytime it rains), and 5 pm to 8 pm Tuesday through Saturday, you can get drinks like a Mai Tai, Moscow Mule, and more for just $6. Drinks range from old favorites to champagne cocktails. It’s inspired by the 130-person West Texas town of Valentine and offers craft cocktails and a food menu from Chef Misti Norris’ Rainbow Cat.
His menu pays homage to the passage of time, with clever tipple titles that are tips-of-the-hat to the bar's name. It’s a snazzy reimagining of the OG spot outfitted with dark wood, warm lighting, banquettes and a shiny chrome bar as the centrepiece. The space is well designed, and the drinks are awesome. The deli menu represents sandwich flavors from across the country. After a nearly three year construction journey, the space is beautiful and generous in size. The drink to the far right is the “Mopac,” which is a light rum blend, mezcal, smoked pear shrub, and Brachetto D’Acqui.

In the former camp, enjoy tequila and mezcal-addled ‘ranch water’, in the latter, toasted sandwiches with Paris ham, Templegall cheese, boudin noir and Aleppo pepper honey. This isn't your traditional central London cocktail bar, but a place to enjoy contemporary classics brimming with imagination. Some favorite drinks include the Firing Squad (tequila, hibiscus, ginger, house Tajin) and passionfruit vodka fizz. Situated in a historic Victorian-style house in Uptown, this cocktail bar is a Dallas favorite for drinks and dinner. While many cocktail bars are dark and intimate by design, Strategic Hospitality’s Pinewood Social is bright and airy—there’s even a bowling alley and a pool onsite.
